Paid opportunity - Children and Young People reps to NHSE/I CYP Transformation Board

Are you a young person aged 13-24 interested in transforming and developing children and young people’s NHS services across England? Would you like to work at a national level to improve outcomes, care and services for all children and young people aged 0-25?

NHS England & Improvement are looking for four children and young people to join the Children and Young People’s Transformation Board as Youth Members for one year (December 2019- December 2020) to represent the voices of children and young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to children, young people and their families in England. Applicants should current or previous experience of using one or more children’s or adolescent NHS services in England. With the support of the Youth Champion, you will be expected to commit to the following:

  • Read papers for the Board prior to the meeting (2-hour to 4-hour commitment)
  • Participate in Web-Ex/phone-call led by the Youth Champion with other Youth Members to go over papers a few days before the Board, as an opportunity to discuss and understand content, as well as ask any questions before Board meeting (1hr commitment)
  • Attend Board meetings in London once every two months (2hr commitment) Work with other Youth Members and the Board to develop new ways of working for the Board to make meetings and meeting papers easy to understand and engaging
  • Develop agenda items and present to the Board, working with NHS Youth Forum and other youth organisations

The expected time commitment will be a minimum of 5 hours over 2 months.

The Youth Member role is a paid role due to the time commitment and extra work required. £75 will be paid to Youth Members for every Board meeting. This includes 2 hours reading of papers in preparation for the meeting, 1 hour Web-Ex/Skype session and 2 hour Board meeting.

Travel expenses will paid will additionally be reimbursed to CYP reps and their caregiver (if under 18).
