Current services and future plans on Board meeting agenda
Important work of St Clare Hospice also highlighted…
Members of the West Essex CCG Board met to discuss crucial services and future plans at its latest virtual meeting on Thursday 26 November.
The Board invited representatives from St Clare Hospice in Harlow to share the story of Pat from Epping, whose husband Peter received care from St Clare Hospice during his cancer illness and in his final moments in July.
Her story spoke of the care, dedication and sensitivity of the hospice and how the Hospice at Home service enabled Peter to be at home when he passed away. She went on to explain how the hospice continued to provide her with support following Peter’s death through their Listening Ear service, which is part of the hospice’s Bereavement Helpline.
Among the other topics discussed was the Think 111 First campaign, which is a new appointment system for A&E services that will be introduced across Hertfordshire and west Essex from the start of December.
Further details about the national campaign, which aims to help keep urgent NHS services safe and to make sure that they are available for everyone who needs them, will be shared publically over the coming days and weeks.
An update on the progress of the One Health and Care Partnership was given and welcomed by the Board.
Peter Wightman, Managing Director of West Essex CCG, also updated the Board on the current situation around the COVID-19 vaccination programme.
He said while a vaccine is still to be approved, the NHS is working hard with partners to make sure centres are ready to roll out the programme when it becomes available, for those who need it most.
