Dr Jen West, Uttlesford GP Representative

Jen has been a GP Principal and Newport Surgery in Newport, Uttlesford since 2001. She qualified in Dundee, Scotland in 1982 and completed vocational training for General Practice in Cambridge in 1999, having moved to the area in 1994.

She has a particular interest in End of Life and Palliative care, and has held an Uttlesford Locality post in End of Life care 2001- 2016- this post was initially funded and supported by Macmillan. She has worked with the Medicines Management team, End of Life and Care Home teams to improve quality and continuity of care for this vulnerable group with a focus on the challenge of providing good out of hours care.

She has previously held roles in Sexual Health (Lister Hospital Stevenage), as an appraiser, (West Essex), and Essex GP member of Addenbrookes GP Liaison committee, together with early involvement representing her practice and local area in GP commissioning from the development of Primary Care Trusts to Practice Based Commissioning, to the current CCGs.
