England’s seven million smokers are being encouraged to take part in this year’s Stoptober campaign, starting on 1 October.
Based on research that if you stop smoking for 28-days you are five times more likely to quit for good, the Stoptober website has information on the range of free and proven support available to help you start your quitting journey.
Residents in Essex can receive help via the Essex Lifestyle Service run by Provide UK, where a stop smoking advisor will offer you a tailor-made support package. You will be given advice on managing stress, eating well (so you don’t put on weight) and on how to overcome the urge to light-up. Stop smoking medicines can be prescribed, if needed. Your advisor will work with you in one-to-one sessions, via telephone support or via a stop smoking app.
Stoptober is here to help you, so why not join in with the biggest stop smoking challenge of its kind.
