Folder Clinical guidelines and prescribing formularies
The clinical guidelines & prescribing formularies have been developed through joint consultations of the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Medicines team, relevant consultants, GPs and other health professionals as appropiate.
Draft documents are discussed at locality medicines optimisation meetings and sent for consultation to Primary Care and relevant providers before being finally approved at Medicine Optimisation Programme Board (MOPB).
Clinical guidelines aim to address the whole medical management of a particular therapeutic area for example, osteoporosis, asthma etc.
The prescribing formulary is a list of medicines from the British National Formulary (BNF) which have been approved for prescribing by MOPB. The aim of MOPB is to promote rational evidence-based and cost-effective prescribing within West Essex health economy. The formulary also contains useful links to local and national guidance.
